Yorgan is the traditional weighted blanket of Turkey, made with a silk satin outer shell and cotton or wool filling, quilted to maximum kitschness.
Disappearing from our homes but not from our memories; Yorgans hold a big presence in the collective memory of Turkey. Designing a collection supporting this dying craft, it was exactly this sentiment we were interested in capturing: Memory. The question was, how could we capture something that we know is there - but isn’t tangible?
We knew it connected everything, how vital it was to our lives, how we could sink under it or be lifted by it…
Then we saw it.

For this project we collaborated with Istanbul-based brand Yüksük, who are known to bring traditional textiles into a modern framework, working with local craftspeople.
We imagined a collection together, which honoured, not only the technique of quilting, but also the sentimentality of this craft.
