Double-Headed Bird Ilhans

£70.00
Sold

Delicate earrings in yellow gold plating, made by Unforgettable Ilhan.

“Most modern uses of the double-headed eagle are directly or indirectly associated with its use by the Eastern Roman Empire, whose use of it represented the Empire's dominion over the Near East and the West.”

The Eastern Roman Empire had Constantinople (Istanbul) as its capital.

Being partly of the Near East and partly of the West ourselves, we interpret this symbol, not as one of world domination, but as a symbol of watching over the world and celebrating multiculturalism.

Material: Gold Plated Silver
Measures: 3 x 3 cm (excluding hook)
