What makes the Ikat technique so special is that the patterns you see on the fabric are not printed, but instead appear depending on the the placement of the yarn when woven.
Prior to weaving, the yarn is dyed in different colours depending on the design in mind. The varying colours of yarn will then be woven into a large piece of fabric.
