The Ikat technique is made - not by printing patterns on silk - but instead weaving the silk yarn in different ways, which create the patterns you see.
Prior to weaving, the yarn is dyed in different colours depending on the design in mind. The varying colours of yarn will then be woven into a large piece of fabric.
