Hittite Ring Jug

£110.00
Sold

An impressive display of craftship and an ergonomic design, these jugs first appeared around 4000 years ago in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey). Thrown on kick-wheels to this day, their unusual shape is due to their intended use over the shoulder (the pourer would wear the jug over their shoulder and pour with ease).

Today, these jugs come in many different sizes. While bigger dimensions keep true to their original use over the shoulder, smaller dimensions like this are intended for hand pouring.

Material: Ceramic
Measures: H 31.5cm, Di 16cm
Notes: Marked down as it bears a small cosmetic mark by the spout | Signed by the Artist | Hand-wash Only | Food Safe | Not suitable for over-shoulder pouring
